car runs backward into house window

Auckland, Tuesday. A sensational motor srnash occurrcd in Mount Eden Road early this morning. • A two-seater. car, driven by a man in evening clothes, overturned, ran backwards, and crashed into tbe side of a house, smasbing the window of one room. The driver, who wa's slightly injured, later disappeared. He is being sought by the police. It is believed that the same car was involved in another accident a few minutes eai'lier, when a man was knocked down and injured. The driver, although warned to stop, drove on. A constable who heard the crash of the car- rushed along the road- to a taxi, hut valuable time was lost because the taxi-driver was sound asleep. The constable then found Robert Done (30) lying stretched on the roadway, having been knocked from his cycle. His injuries were not serious.
