NOTICE OF BILLS mr. veitch must take his ' chance with exchange repeal questions in house

Wellington, Tuesday. The Ho'use of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Notice of motion was giveh of intention to introduce the following bills Arbitration' Clauses (Protocol) and Arbitration (Foreign Awards) Bill (Mr. Forbes), Trustee Amendment (Mr. Coates), A. and P. Societies Amendment Bill (Mr. Macmillan), Judicature Amendment Bill (Mr. Cobbe), Law of Libel Amendment Bill (Mr. Cobbe), Scenery Preservation Amendment Bill (Mr. Ransom), Nurses and Midwives Registration Bill (Mr. Young), National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum Amendment Bill (Mr. Young), Gaming Amendment ^ill (Mr. Healy), Fire Insurance Companies Liability Bill (Mr. Samuel) , Auckland Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Mr. Parry), Third Party Risk Reply to Rev. Clyde Carr (Labour, Timaru), who asked that the legislation relating to motorists third party risks should be tightened up. ~ Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said that the figures showed that the act was fulfilling its object. Unemployment Funds Mr. F. Langstone (Labour, Waimarino), asked whether in view of the unemployment funds accumulated surplus, more liberal payments could not be made. He said that revenue at the end of September had been £2,507,904 and the expenditure £1,824,575, leaving an unexpeeted balanee of £783,329, while for the corresponding period last year, the revenuO had been £1,917,886 and the expenditure £1,427,220 with an unexpeeted balanee of £490,666. The Minister of Employment, Hon. Adam Hamilton, said that he intended to make a statement regarding the board's finances in the course of the next few days. Banks Indemnity Bill Mr. W. A. Veitch (Government, Wanganui), asked whether, in view of the importance of the question involved in the Banks Indemnity (Exchange) Repeal Bill, the Government would take it up as a Government measure or, alternatively, give the House facilities to reach a vote on it. The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, said that the Government did not propose to take up the bill. Mr. Veitch must take his chance with other members so far as the bill's progress through the House was concerned. Mr. Langstone: He knows what that chance will be (laughter). Mr. W. J. Polson (Independent, Stratford), was granted four dqys leave of absenee on account of business. _ tj
