The Government meteoroloplat usued the following weather report and forecast fast ni?ht: — General Situation: An intense anticyclone extends from easterYi Australia- across the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but pressure is rela. tively low in the far north of the Dominion. Winds: Southerly and still strong in exposed districts of the North Island but decreasing ger.erally. Becoming variable i'n the South Island. Weather: Fair to fine generally but a few passing showers on the coast, North of Castlepoint. Coid tempera- ^ tures with some severe frosts in the South Island. Several days of fine weather may be expected in most districts. Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Governfnent Observation Statipn by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
