CH IGAGO SENSATION BANK OFFICIALS HELD UP IN CITY WITH MACHINE GUNS POLICEMAN KILLED

— By Telegraph— Copyright) .

Chicago, Sept. 22. ' Six machine-gun bandits held up the Federal Reserve Bank's automobile in the centre of the city. They seized two money bags and fled under cover of a dense smoke screen emitted from their own motor, killing a policeman in their escape. The estimates of the loot range as high as 500,000 dollars, but it included a eonsiderable amount of unnegotiable paper. Timing the robbery to a split second, the bandits descended upon the bank car, training five machine guns thereon. As they leaped from their own vehicle huge clouds of thick black smoke poured from the machine, and blinded the victims. The bandits' car in making its escape collided with an auto carrying three girls and three boys, both maehines being overturned. A policeman who ran up to investigate was instantly riddled with machine-gun bullets. The bandits then commandeered a passing automobile and continued their flight.
