FOUGHT WITH BADGERS
INVALID RESCUES DOiG. In recognition of his plucky rescue of a terrier from two feroeious badgers in a disused w ell, Alfred Tyrell, an old-age pensioner and an invalid, was presented with a medal and certi- ' ficate by the Dumb Friends League. Tyrell, who lives at Whitecliff, near Coleford, England, missed tbe dog, j which belonged to his landlady, during a walk througb Bircbamp Woods. | Hearing its cries, he traced it to a disused well, where it was being attacked by tbe badgers. Jumping into the well, Tyrell, armed with a stick, eventually succeided in killing the badgers and saving the ' dog. His clothes were toru to pieces and he was also badly bitten by the ! badgers about the hands.
