THE STOCK MARKET MATAMATA

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report having held their Matamata stock sale- yesterday when only a small yarding of sheep was penned, prices being firm at Frankton rates. A good yarding of fat cattle sold at increased prices over last sale. Store cattle remained unchanged. The advertised lines of yearling heifers met with good competition and practically a total clearance was effected. A smaller yarding of dairy heifers came forward, extra choice sorts meeting with good competition. The demand for more. backward and smaller heifers was poor. Pigs: An extra heavy yarding of both fat and store pigs came forward, values being easily up to late quotations on all classes of pigs. Quotations: — Sheep. — Fat ewes, 17s 6d to 17s 9d; medium fat hoggets, 19s 9d; light fat hoggets, 14s. Cattle. — Fat heifers, heavy, £4 17s 6d to £5 2s; medium fat heifers, £3 7s to £3 15s; heavy fat cows, £4 10s to £5 2y, medium fat cows, £3 7s to £4; light fat cows, £2 2s to £2 17s , 6d; young store cows, £1 10s to £1 . 19s; bqner cows, 15s to £1 19s; twoyear empty Jersey heifers, £1 15s to £2 5s; marked Jersey heifers, yearling, £3 17s 6d to £4; extra choice Jersey he-ifers, £3 10s to £4 2s; medium Jersey heifers, £2 13s to £3 2s; 'poorer quality heifers, 37s to £2 10s. i Dairy Cattle. — Choice Jersey heifers, £7 to £9; medium quality Jersey heifers, £5 10s to £6 5s; more backward heifers, £3 to £4.
