troops ambushed by a strong force of tribesmen

Delhi, Sept. 22. Indian troops employed in guarding a new road in the Mohmand territory were ambushed by a strong force .of -Nhostile tribesmen, believed to ^ be Safiris. Three privates were killed and one wounded. - A few hours later a Punjaub regiment was attacked near Katsai, one being killed and one wounded. The enemy's losses are unknown. Scouting 'planes were fired on by the Kandahakis who with the Safiris, are believed to have been incited by Afghan adventurers supposed to be connected with a plot to overthrow Nadir Shah. the King of Afghanistan.
