WOMEN'S CLUB
ENJOYABLE SOCIAL AFTERNOON AT KIOSK. ONE-ACT PLAY READ. The usual monthly social afternoon 'of the Rotorua Women's Club was held at the Government. Gardens tea •kioslc last Tuesday afternoon there •being a good attendance of members 1 present. The president, Mrs. D. M. Ford, presided. During the afternoon, a one-act play, "Afternoon," was read by members of the club's literary circle, those taking part being Mrs. H. Bertram, Mrs. R. Stewart, Miss M. Mactier, ■ Miss D. GrifAths and Miss G. La Trobe Hill. Following the playette a most interesting and novel competition was ■held, each meznber being required to weave a romance with Shakespeare's plays by answering various questions relating to a number of the wellknown playvvright's works. The first prize was won by Mrs. R. Stewart, and in the tie which resulted for second place Mrs. W. Campbell proved the winner. Among those present were. — Mrs. D. M. Ford, Mrs. A. T. Coates, Mrs. H. Bertram, Mrs. A. V. Merriman, Mrs. A. Goodyer, Mrs. W. Steele, Mrs. J. Winslade, Mrs. J. R. Blencowe, Mrs. A. Millar, Mrs. H. Gribble, Mrs. Russell Gardner, Mrs. R. Stewart, Mrs. W. Campbell, Mrs. J. Hansfield, Mrs. Mitclzell, Mrs. J. Martindale, Mrs. W. Powell, Mrs. C. Pipson, Mrs. Belinsky, Miss M. Mactier, Miss G. La Trobe Hill, Miss D. Griffiths, Miss E. Hitchen, Miss J. Pearce.
