Shanghai, Sept. 20. The whole of Manchukuo is now united in three lines of defence rgainst the southern sweep of the dreaded bubonic and pneumonic plagues, which at present are raging in North Supingkai and claiming hundreds of lives. It is estimated that 600 have succumhed during the last fortnight. Hundreds also are reported to he (lying of the scourge in the- Tungliao districts and other affected areas in Taonan, while the Chinese Eastern Railway authorities have established quarantine statioxis at Tsitsihar and other important stations for passengers travelling via Siberia. With the approach of cold weather the situation will become worse and i iver traffic may be suspended.
