HUNDREDS SEE DROWNING

RESCUE ATTEMPT FAILS. A hather who ventured into a rough sea was drowned within sight of hundreds of holidaymakers at Brighton, England, recently. Red danger flags were flyin'g, and it is said that a waterman shouted warnings. The hather, Ronald Parsons, of Arundel Place, Brighton, was in difficiilties immediately he entered the sea. Carrying a rope, one end of which was held by people on shore, two Brighton brothers, John and Robert Markwick, dashed fully clothed to the rescue. They were repeatedly ' flung back, but finally reached Parsons and the three were hauled to the beach'. Artificial respiration was applied to Parsons, but it was of no avail.
