Rughy, Sept. 14. In his presidential address at the ltumn meeting at Glasgow of the ssociation of British Chambers of ommerce, Sir Alan Anderson took a lutiously optimistic view of the ade outlook. Puring the past seven feeks the tntal receipts of the four ailway companies for all classes of I'ansport have been £805,000 higher Lan those during the corresponding Jeriod iast year. Passenger traffic ias risen by £530,000, and merchaniise by £400,000, while minerals have 'allen by £134,000. Shipping returns also show an im?rovtment. During August 240 ships, totalling 703,000 tons, arrived at Livh'pool compared with 185, totalling 530,000 tons a year ago. The Board of Trade Gazette rewrds a further slight increase in K'holesale prices during August.
