A FORTUNATE RESULT Auckland, Thursday. Miss Ellen Melville, president of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women, commenting on the election result, said it was fortunate that the first woman elected to Parliament should be one of such undoubted capacity and experience in public work, and one who would be able to convince the country that public women were as well suited as men for Parliamentary work. Miss Carnachan, former Doniiiiion president, expressed delight at Mrs. McCombs' election, saying she was the right lcind of woman to be elected.
