great improvement follows ottawa agreement GOOD BRITISH BUSINESS
By Telegraph— Copyrlght).
• London, Sept. 13. The report of the Board of Trades' Commissioner in India for the three months — April, May and June, provides a strlking illustration of the effects of the Ottawa agreements in India's import trade. _ _ In nearly every item in which there is preference to the United Kingdom there has been an improved percentage of trade;, in most cases Empire shipments have actually increased, although the total shipments have been reduced. The United Kingdom products are gradually displaping Continental and American goods, but Japanese competition is increasingly severe ;in a steadily widening range of articles. The disparity between the United Kingdom and Japanese prices is usually so wide that the 10 per cent. preference is entirely inadequate.
