Christchurch, Wednesday. The result of the Lyttelton by-elec-tion held here to-day was as folows: Mrs. McCombs (Labour) 6080 F. W. Freeman (Coalition) 3480' E. L. Hills (Ind.-Labour) 263 Majority for Mrs. McCombs 2600 There are 221 absentee votes, 217 postal votes and 45 seamen's votes to come. There has been steady rain here all to-day, this probably causing the total votes polled to be about 1000 below those polled at the general election.
