THE MORNING POST BOX
Busy Bee , Tutanekai St. — Oh, Busy Bee, wha a nice long letter you wrote telling me all about the nice time you had in Auckland. I could imagine every moment of it. Some of your general knowledge questions were ' just a wee bit wrong, but then not everybcdy is good at that sort of thing. Peter Pan, Tutanekai St. — So glad you were so thrilled at winning the 2s 6d, Peter. What are you going to do with it? The riddles will be most acceptable for the Fun Corner. I didn't see "The Kid from Spain," but quite ia lot of Kosy Korrier niembers told me'how much they had. enjoyed it. .... Here is a mysfcerious member of mine who has forgotten'.to tell me his or her name. The letter describes what a lovely holdiay this member of mine had on a farm and one day a visit to Arapuni was made. You make me very curious when you don't tell me your name. ...Zeno Aurellia, James St. — I was hoping you hadn't forgotten to write me a letter this week, Zeno, and I was very pleased when I opened the mail bag and found such a nice neat letter from you. I think you were quite right in the first place in saying that the New Zealand Railways Board controlled the railways. You were just a wee bit unfortunate in not gaining first place in the competition, but Firefly's entry arrived with yours and although you were both correct in the knowledge portion, hers was a little neater and you had spelt a word wrongly, and so Firefly is the winner of the hook this week. I hope you had an enjoyable hike on Thursday, the day was ideal for walking, wasn't it? Just a wee reminder. Don't forget to write on one side of 4 the paper only, Zeno. Jean, Millar, Eruera St. — I was so pleased to hear that you liked the K.K.K. so much and you've no idea ' haw much I love getting all my members' lqtters each' week, Jean. What a pretty pussy Blue must be. So glad you liked the points card and ever so many thanks for the kisses and also the jokes for Fun Corner. Apple Blossom, Opotiki. — Unfortunately your entry was too late for the K.K.K. last week, Apple Blossom. Do you think you could post a little earlier so that your letter would reach Kosy Korner no later than Thursday morning? The K.K.K. is published every Saturday. I was ever .so sorry to hear that Mr. Weathercock has been treating your school holidays so unkindly. Firefly, Seddon St. — A splendid entry, Firefly, and I hope you will like the hook I am sending you. I suppose school starts in earnest for you next week, but when you think about it Christmas isn't very far away and no one minds working hard with the lovely long holidays before us. Syringa, Old Taupo Road. — I really ■began to think that you weren't going to write to Kosy Korner any more, Syringa, but when I received your letter this week and all the promises of all the future letters which you are going to write to me. I felt very pleased. You won't forget the riddles and poetry which you promised me' for next week, will you, Syringa? I hope you have had jolly holidays. Tiki, Rotorua.— Y our entry was quite correct, Tiki, but unfortunately one of our other members beat you to the winning post. Better luck next ■time. You haven't written to me for ages, Tiki, and I began to think you had quite deserted Kosy Korner. I hope you will write next week and also enter for the competitions. Muffit, James St. — A very good essay, Muffit, and especially neat. You all seem to have very realistic adventures for the old penny. Have you enjoyed the school holidays. Next week I should love you to write to me and tell me all the interesting things you did. Pixie, Sophia St.— A good attempt at the general knowledge questions, Pixie and you had your entry in nice and early. There was just one little slip. Longfellow wias an American poet, not an Englishman. Yes, Pixie, you are in the Senior division. When our members turn eleven, they enter into the Senior Circle. Robin Hood, Whakaue St.— Many thanks for the jokes for the Fun Corner; they will be most useful. No, I don't think I should like to be going back to school, although I liked it very much when I was there. Sorry you did not enter for the competition this time. Hope you will next week.| Lily, Seddon St.— What a very nice holiday you had, Lily. I lalways like to hear about my members' doings. Just one slip in your competition entry, a very neat one though. I shall look for a letter next week. Skippy, Tu(tanekai St.— When I read the first page of your competition entry I thoug*ht, "Ah, here is the winner," but unfortunately you just slipped on the last two questions, Skippy. Never mind, better luck next time. Don't forget to have a try at next week's competition. Roxane, Tarewa Road. — I was very sorry to hear this loyal member of mine has not been well. Too bad, happening right in the middle of the holidays like that, wiasn't it? However, by now I hope you are feeling ' quite better again. Your entry was quite correct Roxane, only Firefly just managed to reach the winning post first. Jocelyn Houghton, King George V. Hospital. — What a lovely surprise, I Jocelyn, to know that you are feeling.
well enough to send Colleen some jokes. The beautiful sunny days , make everybody feel better and bet- ; ter every moment, don't they? Fun J Corner will just love the jokes and I ! have a feeling that we might see Jocelyn's name on the Honours Board . this week. A splendid start, Jocelyn. Wild Rose, Hinemoa St. — A nice neat entry, Wild Rose. Just one mis- i j take which you will be able to see for ' yourself when you read the answers. I know you are interested in poetry. What do you think about K.K.K. starting a Poet's Corner? Would you I send in some contributions ? I Bluebell, Pukuatua St. — I must ad- ' mit that history and geography was j not a terribly strong point of mine j either, Bluebell, when I was at school. ; However, I think you have made a } very good ia.ttem.pt at the questions j and there is only one mistake. Don't ; forget next week's competition. Strong Oak, Hinemoa St. — A good original entry, Strong Oak, and I have a firm belief that this loyal member of mine has a very vivid imagination. There are such a lot of good junior entries this week that I can see a headache in store for Colleen before she eventually determines the winners. Little John, Opotiki. — So glad to welcome you as a member, Little John, and I hope you will write very often. Do enter for the competitions next week. Pei Biddle, Ruatold. — Thanks ever so much, Pei. You may have lost your pen but that was quite the nicest land neatest entry I have had from you. You were a little out in some of your answers, though.
