MAJESTIC THEATRE

TO-DAY AND TO-NIGHT. "Sunshine Susie," featuring Renate Muller and Owen Nares opened at the Majestic Th'eatre last night. The story is light and frivolous and is well strung. togeth'er, and is enriched by some of the most delightful musical numhers heard in a picture for .a long .time. The theme song, with its -enchanting choral effects^ will douhtless prove a big; hit everywhere'. "Sunshine Susie" comes to Vienna to get a job as typist, and secures a post in a bank with the aad of Hasel, the commissionaire. But Herr Klapper, the staff manager, is dissatisfied hecause she will not. make an appointment with him, and makes her work late. She meets Arvay, the principal direetor, who is also working late, and, thinking him only a clerk, she asks him to help her. The two go off together to the bier-garten, where Hasel is singing. It is not until next day that Susie learns who Arvay is. But the direetor is quite ,a different person in the bank, and Susie and Hasel have to plot to gain access to him, which, however, is ultimately arranged; and to her delighted surprise she is invited to tea in the direetor's apartment. Arvay ' offers the girl luxury and. ease,, but j not matriage, and there is trouble in j consequence; but Arvay confesses he ! was but testing her, and offers marriage, which is „.a.eeepted. Renate Muller, a German musical-comedy actress, is delightful in the name role. She sings sweetly, speaks English very well, and acts with considerable charm. Brilliant support is given by Jack Hulhert in the comedy role of a bank commissionaire who is serious all day, but conducts a bier-gar-ten orchestra at night; and by Owen Nares, Morris Harvey and Barbara Gott.
