CONGRATULATIONS' CABLED (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, Sept. 2. The Lord Mayor, Alderman Hogan. cabled congratulations to Bobby Pearce from his many friends in Sydney. Mr. Harry Pearce, father of Bohby, himself an ex-champion sculler and who is now resident in Sydney, declared that he was to-day the proudest father in Australia. It had been very hard foi* Bob to give up his amateur status but he had felt that the professional title was the only thing left for him to gam and this he had now won in handsome fashion. Mrs. Pearce Snr., is equally nleased.
