SUCCESSFUL CONFERENCE BETWEEN CLUB AND UNION
TO-DAY'S TRIBAL MATCH
Following a conference yesterday morning between members of the Rotorua Rugby Sub:-Union and Te Arawa Tribal Club, in connection with. the dispute which arose at the meeting of the union on Monday, regarding gate takings at the tribal match arranged for to-day, it was announced that a satisfactory distribution of the gate had been agreed upon by both parties and that the match will be played. The Rugby Union, which was represented by Messrs. T. S. Robertson (president), A. G. Cottrell and L. Clarke, placed the requirements of the union before the club delegates, and in reply th© president of the club, Mr. H. Tai Mitchell, gave an j outline of the expenses which had been ineurred by the club in arranging the fixture. The choice of a Wednesday for such a challenge match was an experiment in Rotorua and it was difficult to estimate what the gate takings would total, or if sufficient would be received to cover the expenses. After hearing these representations the union delegates asked if the club would be prepared to allocate ten per cent. of the takings up to £30 to the union, with a distribution
of 50 per cent. to each body thereafter. This suggestion was aceeptable to the club delegates, the president giving an assurance that if the gate was better than had been expected, a more liberal arrangement would be considered in connection with future matches.
