youth'S awful EXPERIENCE, An 18-year-old youth who slipped when cleaning windows at the steel works of Messrs. John Bedford and Sons, Ltd., Sheffield, England, recently, had to save himself from falling into a pot of molten metal by catching hold of a live electric cable carrying 200 volts. The youth, Peter Burnand, received a severe shock and was rendered uneonscious. The current tightened the hand round .the cable, from which he remained suspended till rescued by another workman, who received a lesser shock. Burnand was taken to hospital, but after treatment for burns was allowed to go home.
