INSURANCE COMPANIES TAKING EVERY PRECAUTION CLOSE INVESTIGATION
-By Telegraph— Copyrlgjit).
Rec. 8.50 p.m. London, Aug. 29. In consequence of the recent ' fire eonspiracy case, London insurance companies have appointed a secret committee from among their senior officers to form an unofficial criminal investigation department for the purpose of stopping bogus claims. The Daily Herald learns that clues discovered during the recent case led detectives to suspeet the existence of other fire-raising organisations. If these enquiries result in prosecutions, the charge sheet is likely to be one of the most sensational which has ever come before a British court. The most probable step, however, will be the launching of charges against a group of defendants outside London. Meanwhile the fire-raisers are frightened and it is practically certain that the deliberate burning of premises has ceased, at least for the time being. '
