VICTORIAN WOMEN'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS CONTINUED NEW ZEALANDERS ENGAGED

(Rec. 9.25 p.m.) Melbourne, August 29. The Vietorian Women's National Golf Championships were continued to-day when the foursomes championship and handicap events were decided. The foursomes were won by Miss O. Lefebvre and Miss J. Hammond (N.S.W.) 82 and 84 while Miss Q. Kay and Miss B. Gaisford .(New Zealand) tied with Mrs. Alec Russell and Mrs. Lascelles (Victoria) for second place, scoring 92 and 82. The match between the winners and the New Zealand pair in the afternoon round, attracted a large gallery and the golf was excellent. The handicap foursomes were won by Miss J. Nicholls and Mrs. Thompson and the New Zealand pair were the two lowest handicapped players to compete in Victoria. Miss S'usie Tolhurst (Vic.), after her brillianfc win yesterday was compelled to return home with an attack of influenza and is now a doubtful starter in the first round of the Australian Women's Championships which will be played to-morrow. Mrs. Guy Williams (N.Z.) has shown a slight improvement followjng her attack of influenza but Mrs. Templer the third member of the New Zealand team, was indisposed today and scratched in the foursomes.
