Calcutta, August 28. Overeome with grief at the death of her husband, aged 24 years, a girl aged 16 years at Daimond Harbour, Calcutta, attempted suttee. She threw herself on the blazing pyre, clinging to the burning body. The mourners rescued her senseless and extensively burned.
