WAIKATO WATER

(Press Assn.-

auckland city council opposes the scheme COMPANY ANNOYED

— By Telegraph — OopjTlght).

Auckland, Saturday. A representative of the Waikato Water S'upply Company, Limited, commented yesterday on the action of the Auckland City Council in declining to enter into negotiations with the company regarding its proposal to supply water to the city. "The council has curtly refused to discuss the company's proposals without having any knowledge of what they amount to," he said. "It would appear that the City Council has made up its mind that the company has no proposal worth discussing. The de--cision of the council to oppose the project by every possible means seems to indicate that they are indifferent

to what has become an urge-nt problem for areas which they are not at present serving. The company's proposals do nbt apply only to the city, as we propose to deal with a very much larger area and 'to supply local bodies, to some of whom the question of water supply is a constant source of anxiety,"
