COLLEEN'S LETTER

COLLEEN.

Dear Kiddies, — Sheafs and sheafs of letters again and quite a lot from new members, which pleased me. tremendously. I am starting an Honours Board this week and from now on I will publisK the name of the member sending in the best joke or riddle, best letter and the neatest entry. Towards the end of the year when I have my annual talk with Father Christmas, I may be able to persuade him to give me something special for the member who has been most often mentioned in these sections. I have been very pleased that so many have written in sections where there is no prize offered, for I do not want you to write to the page just to win prizes. That is why I would like to give a little special memento to the one who

has tried hardest during the year. The nasty old Weather Clerk has been unkind to your holidays, hasn't he? Never mind, you still have quite a long way to go and he may begln to smile again very soon. Do hope you haven't forgotten about the new members. I had one splendid budget this week and I am looking forward to many more. One member has asked whether this competition is for the Seniors only. It is for both sections. This week, the competitions will give you a rest from writing and find out the practical ones among you. Good essay writers are not always good little housewives and practical lads with tools. The missing names competition was very popular with the Seniors, so I am trying to think up an easier one for the Juniors. Now, remember that I'm looking forward to the postman.
