labour's appeal mrs. McCOMBS accorded a remarkable reception CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

Christchurch, Friday. A remarkable reeeption was accorded Mrs. E. McCombs, Labour candidate for the Lyttelton seat, when she opened her campaign at Lyttelton this evening. There was a prolonged demonstration from the erowded audienee when she rose to speak and at the end of her address eheering and applause continued for several min- * utes. Mrs. McCombs said that if elected she would vote for the restoration of edueational facilities and she- spoke at length of the harm- done, especially to sons and daughters of the working man, by the reduetion of the expenditure on education. Mrs. McCombs critieised the Government's unemployment policy and-.enu-neiated Lahourrs policy for dealing with the problem. The candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
