The Govftrnment meteorolonist lasued the followiri^ weather report and foreeast f»st rrig'ht: — General situation: The depression whieh crossed the Dominion oh Thursday night has lost its intensity, but a secondary has since developed on the West Coast. An intense anticyclone covers the eastern half of Australia with its ce'ntre over Tasmania. Foreeast: Winds southeriy from Canterbury southwards, elsewhere northerlies at first but soon'becoming general. Moderate but increasing in force. Weather: Changeabie with rain at times in most districts, with hail on parts of the coast. Snow on the rang_ es. Temperatures becomi'ng cold but improving soon, however, oh- the west coast of the South Island. • Followihg. are the barometer,- maxlmum arrd minimum thermometsr; sunshine, and rainfall rea'dings recorded at the Government Observation Sta* tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
