-By Telegraph — Cipyrlght).
Berlin, Aug. 22. After swimming non-stop f6r 79 hours — a world's record — Fraulein Ruth Litzig was sent to a Berlin hospital suffering from a high temperature and cramp. She died later from heart failure due to the strain. More than 150,000 persons paid sixpence to see her swimming slowly like an imprisoned fish round a pool at Eaaen. Fraulein Litzig was kept awake only by a jazz band" and a loud speaker. Finally with unseeing eyes and a distorted face she collapsed and was saved fi'om drowning by a swimming instructor who leapt into the pool. Wrapped in cotton wool, Fraulein Litzig was rushed into hospital. The cheering crowd thought she was suffI ering only from natural exhaustion. She never awoke from her stupor. When her heart stopped beating she was revived by an injection but the efforts were unavailing.
