Christchurch, Wednesday. Replying to a statement made by Mr. E. L. Hills, Independent Labour candidate. for LytteltoUj that he had been offered a sum to withdraw from the campaign and "it had not come from the Coalition party," Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Labour Party, gave an emphatic denial to the veiled suggestion that the Labour Party had made an offer to Mr Hills to withdraw. Mr. Holland said: "In all its history the New Zealand Labour Party I has never offered money to any man I to withdraw from a fight, nor has it offered money to anyone to enter a fight for the purpose of splitting votes." — |
