S'choolboys are smoking 50 per cent. more cigarettes than they 'did ten years ago, according to a Christchurch schoolmaster. And schoolgirls, too, are doing ditto ditto, it seems. So are young men. But older men, as a rule prefer the pipe. Generally speaking they have no more use for the cigarette than a vegetarian has for a grilled stake, especially if they happen to be veteran smokers. And since the slump h'it New Zealand, there has beeti,' so the tobacconists say, ' an increased demand for pipes, with of course, a coresponding demand for pipe tobaeco — especially the New Zealandl The marked preference for this tobacco exhibited by so many smokers is easily explairied. Firstly the. flavour and bouquet are exceptionally fine; seconly, owing to the trifling quantity of nicotine it eontains it is extraordinarily pure. The toasting of the leaf does it! You can smoke' any bf 'the four brands Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog) Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), with absolute impunity. There is" no other tobacco on the market of which this can be said. " FOR Shop Fittings Show Cases Stands etc. FURNITURE . . .
