annual function LARGE CROWD FILLS NEW A. AND P. SHOW PAVILION STRIKING DECORATIONS Verdant ferns and fairy lighting' made an attractive setting for the successful annual dance held by the Rotorua Fire Brigade at the A. and ! P. pavilion on Wednesday evening. j There was a record number pre- I sent, and dancing was continued un- I til a late hour to the lively strains of Mr. Claude Tattersall's orchestra. Supper was served in a trelliced alcove partitioned off from the ballroom and decorations carried out principally in red, looked most attractive on the tables laden with all the good things which an energetic ladies' committee had provided. In addition to dancing a 500 tournament had been arranged, the winners being Mesdames Corbett, Walk- ! er, Rosser and Weeks, the latter two playing as gentlemen. A monte carlo ' held during the evening was won by Miss Cambie and Mr. Giil and bright extras were played by Mrs. Weir and Mr. E. Shalfoon. In a short speech the chairman, Mr. F. Goodson, thanked the dancers for their support that evening and said that great credit was due to the ladies' committee for their excellent supper arrangements for the evening. He congratulated Superintendent Anderson upon the excellent work done by the brigade during the past year and also presented service bars to Messrs. R. Tucker (27 years), II. Balsdon (19 years), Briggs (11 years), Norman (5 years) and Henderson (3 years) . Members of the ladies' committee present were: — Mrs. T.
