ORPHANS' CLUB
growing popularity evidenced by attendance LAST NIGHT'S PROGRAMME Despite the prevailing hard times, the Rotorua Orphaqs' Club is continuing to demonstrate that it is still possible to enjoy life, eve-n in this year of grace, 1933. Recent meetings of the club have drawn what can only be described as cap?icity houses and the club's jolly evenings of song and story have now become eagerly anticipated events. Last night's programme was another outstanding success and further established the popularity of the club among all classes of the community. The chairman for the evening was Bro. L. J. Bayfeild, who kept things moving as a good chairman should. With him was the patron of the club, Mr. C. H. Clinlcard, M.P., who was extended a special welcome. The programme was as follows: Orchestral selections, "The Belle of N evf York"; song, Mr. F. Balcer, "Glorious Devon"; songs, "Beneath Thy Window"~ and "Lolita," Mr. G. Barnes; -musical item, Messrs. _Epi Shalfoon and J. Aspden, "Goodnight My Beloved"; supper and greetings; orchestral selection; community singing led by Bro. W. R. Harris; musical item, Messrs. E. Munson and J. • Aspden; songs, "Captain of My „Soul," "The Army, it's Alright," and "The S'toker," Mr. F. Baker; songs, "IT1 Take You Home Again, Kathleen" and "Take a Pair of Sparkling ' Eyes," Mr. F. Barnes; musical item, Messrs. Shalfoon and Aspden; humrous\nonologues, Mr. Wilkinson; duet ■ "Watchman, What of the Night," Messrs. Baker and Barnes; the King.
