big prize money promised for centenary tourney

(Rec. 9.15 p.m.) Melbourne, August 17. In connection with the Victorian eentenary celebrations, the Victorian Golf Association hopes to be able to distribute £5000 in prize money for the open golf championship. It is expected that the large prize money will attract noted players from overseas. The events contemjplated will be held just after the Melbourne Cup of 1934.
