The Daily Telegraphs' Dublin correspondent says that it is now generally realised that the Government must decide its fate on an early election with the abolition of the Senate as the issue. Mr. De Valera's move for abolition of the upper chambef may meet with "a good deal of support, but Mr. De Valera has also lost support through the revival of the Public Service Act. Tbe suggested surtax would be imposed upon incomes of £200 arid over and would affect about 2000 taxpayers.
