MINISTERS ENTERTAINED (Rec. 10 p.m.) Washington, August 16. At a luncheon tendered by President Roosevelt to the New Zealand Ministers, opportuity was taken by the President to mention the question of recipfocal trade between New Zealand and the United States. • Later the Hon. R. Masters met a group of representative officers of the Department of State. Mr. Masters expressed appreciation on behalf of the New Zealand Government at the action of the State Department in lifting the American embargo against New Zealand fruit. He also strOngly expressed the view that it should' be possible to come to a satisfactory agreement under which New Zealand producers could exchange their products for special lines of American goods to the mutual advantage of both countries. The marlcet for New Zealand wool and the problem of augmentiiig saies was closely studied and the position with regard to other of the piiPcipal New Zealnad products was analysed and discussed. Both Ministers expressed satisfaction at the nature of the discussions, especially the encouraging and sympathic views voiced by the president. Messrs Forbes and Masters arrive at Boston on Thursday to confer with leading firms dealing in New Zealand wool.
