Rec. 9 p.m. Calcutta. Aug. 16. Aeroplanes reconnoitering hostile tcihal territory were fired on heavily by snipers hidden in the villages also by parties of Upper Mohmand tribesmen, marching, it is believed, to make s. new attack. As retaliation, bombs were dropped from the 'planes upon the Mohmands who dispersed in a panic. A clash occured between parties of Mohfnands and a force of the friendly Halimzai tribesmen. The latter were compelled to retreat in the face of superior numhers, hut inf icted heavy casualties on the enemy who lost 18 dead and a large number wounded.
