Tha Govarnment meteoroloplst isoued the following weather report and forecast lest niyht:--General situation: An intense anticyclone covers the south Tasman Sea and the south of New Zealand, but pressure is low to the north and is falling also over south-east Australia. Winds: IVIoderate to fresh. Southerfy to easterly winds 'north of Westport and Kaikoura, elsewhere variable. Weather: For the most part falr to fine, but light scattered showers on the East Coast from Cook Strait northwards, Temperatures cool to moderate. Following are the barometer, maxlimuni arid liiiriimum thermortiater, sunshine/ and rainfall rea'dings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.fn. yesterday. Barometer 30.268ins. Thermometer (max.) 58.8deg. Thermometer (min.) 32.2deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 22.9deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine .... 8.8hrs.
