NEW MIDGET SPEED BOAT TO CHALLENGE FOR RECORD

-By Telegraph— Copyright).

Rec. Aug. 5. London, Aug. 4. It is revealed that Miss Britain III., which has been secretly built at Hythe for the purpose of challe-ng-ing Miss America X., for the British international trophy touched a speed of nearly 110 miles per hour, the fastest ever achie-ved on salt water. She was using only a 900 horse-pow-er engine instead of the 1375 horsepower for which she was designed. .She is the smallest boat ever entered for the trophy, being only 24 feet 6 inches long, with an 8ft. beam. Scientists who watched ,the test described the boat as faste-r than anything in transport except a catapulted aeroplane. The new features include an allmetal design, 8600 rivets being used in her construction, and steering by a forward rndder.
