GENERAL COMMITTEE REPORTS UPON VARIOUS MATTERS TO COUNCIL In the course of its report to the Rotorua Borough Council on Wednesday evening the General Committee reported: — Public Buildings. — Having received a request for reduction in the license fee of a public building and having informed the applicant that as the fee is covered by a by-law no reduction can be made unless the by-

Breach of By-laws. — Having received a complaint with referenee to a fowlhouse on premises situated in Ranolf Street and having instructed the inspector to give the owner of the premises notice that the necessary alterations must be carried out within a specified time. Repairs to Building. — Having considered representations made by Messrs. Dingle and McDowell regarding suggested repairs to the building at the corner of Hinemoa and Fenton Streets damaged by fire and having informed the applicants that the committee would be prepared to issue a permit for the reinstatement of the building provided concrete walls are erected as party walls on each side of the shop damaged by fire. Nightsoil Service. — Having considered a complaint received that a resident of the borough is not availing himself of the nightsoil service and having given him notice that the service must be instituted within seven days. Pound. — Having advised the poundkeeper of certain duties in connection
with the pound. Earthquake Building Regulations. — Having instructed the town clerk to endeavour to procure a copy of the regulations issued. Abattoir. — Having received from the abattoir manager a request that the water supply should be seen to before the summer and having in- ; structed the engineer to investigate and to take the necessary steps to deepen the well if necessary, ;
