SPEDDING JUNIOR DEFEATS W. KUSABS IN FINAL TWO YOUNG PLAYERS The final of the Rotorua Golf Club's Wednesday Cup competition was .played yesterday. The finalists were Spedding Jnr. and W. Kusabs both young and promising players. The game was very open up to the 9 th at which Spedding held a lead of one. At the turn, the long tenth was won by Spedding in five and the 11th was halved in fives. At the Taupo Road, Spedding increased his lead to three with a well played 4. The tricky dog-leg was halved. The 14th was halved in 3 but at the Crater hole, Kusahs over-pitched the green failing to get back. Spedding hoTed in 3, winning the match by 4 and 3. The winner's card was 40 out and 36 in. At the 9th, his tee shot was 18 inches above the hole, he failed to sink it and eareless playing back missed a three, othenvise his card would have been 74. In the cup matches played over the week-end, Pott heat R. C. Smith 4 and 3 and Spedding beat K. Buddle 3 and 2. " -rThe semi-finalists are now S. E. Carr, Pott, P. A. Kusabs and Spedding Jnr. The last two stars on the horizon of the golfing firmament. Kusabs and Spedding should cause their more experienced opponents some' uneasiness in the play off.
