preparations of plans for contest in hand new zealand entries

Melbourne, August 2. Plans for the trans-Tasman yacht race during the centenary celebrations are being completed by a committee of Melbourne citizens who are organising the event. Dr. F. Bennell, in explaining the plans, said the centenary race would be from Auckland to Melbourne. There will be a substantial purse in addition to a cup. Two entries are expected from New Zealand, two from Sydney, and one from Suva; Melbourne will be represented by Dr. Bennell's own yacht, the Oimara. Dr. Bennell intends to cable an invitation to Earl Jellicoe to be one of his crew.
