LARGE ATTENDANCE EXPECTED AT BiG CATHOLIC FUNCTION To-dhy is the last clear xlay before the Catholic Debutante Ball which is tb he held to-morr"ow . rught' in the A. and P. Show Hall. Thirty-six debutantes are to make their curtesy to his Lor dship, the Bishop of Auckland, Dr. Liston, and the event will undbubtedly be one of the outstanding social functions which have been held in Rotorua. It is the first debutante ball to .He held in Rotorua and it is also the first full dress ball to be held in the new showw hall which offers larger dancing accommodation than any hitherto available. An attendance,upwards of 700 is antieipated and pre~ parations are being made on a very large scale. A number of the debutantes come from Whakatane, Mamaku and other adjacent centres aiid it is expected that a large nuriiber bf visitors will be present. The presfeUtation cei'feriidhy will make a striking tableau, the deb.utantes advancing in {paii's the full length of the hall to make their curtesy to the bishop who will stand on the dais at the far end surrounded by his staff and with the. matrons of honour and other ball officials. It was originally arranged that the presentation should take plaee at 8.d5 p.m. but this time has now been alteped.to 8.30 p.m. Very comprehensive arrangemerits are being made for the supper which will be on the lai-gest ^cale so far attempted in Rotorua. An .exlensive organisation has been at work "for weeks past in preparation for the b.all and all the indications are that Rotorua's first debutaiite ball will be an unqualified success. r ^
