ANCIENT SKULL FOUND

WAS OWNE1R; MURDERED? The skull of a man who lived probahly 100,000 years atgo, has been found in the bed of the River Arun at Horsham, Sussex, England. The curator of Horsham Museum, to which the skull has been presented, saidr "Du'ring excavations for sewer purposes the skull was found It was 3ft 3in deep under yellow clay, and in a streak, 5in deep, of grey clay "It was forwarded to Miss M. L. Tildsley, curator of the human osteological museum of the Royal College of Surgeons. After carqful measurement and examination, as well as comparison with skulls of the Bronze and Iron Ages, she has pronounced it to be that of a Neolithic man who most likely lived .in the later glacial period in Britain. "The find comprises only the top part of the ■ skull,- and' is about seven or eight inches long. There is a large hole on the right side, suggesting to me that the man died from an enemy's blow.
