(Rec. 11 p.m.) Melbourne, July 26. According to a letter received from South Africa hy Senator Guthrie, conditions there are desperate owing to a prolonged drought. The loss of sheep is over 12,000,000. Many pastoralists wealthy man a few years ago, were now ruined and farms were being sold in some cases for 1/- an acre. Cattle land was unsaleable and food unproeurable.
