As evidence of the fulfilment of the Five-Year Plan an offi'cihl S'oviet report published in London, claims : tha't three and "a-Half million un'ettl- ; ployed at the beginning of the plah were abolished in 1930. The average annual wage per worker was increased 103 per cent between 1928 and ' 19'32 while social ihsurance increased fo'urfold. The number of workers j ' during the plan had risen to 22,000,- | 000 from 11,000,000 including mhny women who freed themselves from , househ'old drudgery ahd entered skill- ! ed bccupatiohs. In the sahie period, the population increased from 154,0000,000 to 165,000,000. From aj backward peasant country the Soviet j had been transferred into a powerful, | definitely-advanced industrial nation,; with agriculture on the largest scalei in the world.
