SAVOURS OF INTIMIDATION
— By Telegraph — Copyr ight).
Rec. July 25, 5.5 p.m. London, July 25. "Plum" Warner, writing in the Daily Telegraph says: "Eighteen thousand silent spectators saw bodyline bowling after the mannei' practiced by Harwood in Australia. What they saw I know not, but I shall be surprised .if they approve thereof. Hammond later had two stitehes inserted in his wound. England had to contend with a form of attack whereto I am sorry the West Indies had to resort. Apart from any other question this form of bowling made the game very dull. What happened will bring the question more acutely than ever to the front for till today very few Englishmen had seen this bowling, having previously confused it with leg theory. "I am. and always have been opposed to this style of attack. It may be within the law, but to my mind it is not in the best interests of the game. It savours of intimidation and certainly looks venomous. I have in nowise altered the view I expressed during a certain match at the Oval.
