Rumours that Brown, ace halfbaek of one ( team, will be "smeared" to- guarantee victory for his opponents suddenly comes true, when, after breakingaway from the line and dashing prac- | tically to score a try„ he suddenly staggers, stumbles and falls. j No matter of tripping over his own feet, this, the spectators discover. For doctors who rush to his side find him out "cold," Rushed to a hospital, he dies. Then David Landau, in the role of a noted detective, and Holmes, Brown's team-imate and buddy, get together in an effort to find out who was respon1 sihle for the murder, and why. Their success leads to a startling climax. 1 Miss Jordan plays the role of
Brown's sisiter, and her romance with Holmes runs through the story. Ruggles is a good-natured, generally drunk reporter, who announces the game, play-by-play, and helps in the ultimate solution of the mystery.
