ARRANGEMENTS MADE LEAVE MANY LOOPHOLES TERM INDEFINITE
Rug-by, July 20. Referring to the tariff truce during his parliamentary answer to-day, the Financial Secretary for the Treasury, Mr. L. Hore-Belisha, said that under the terms of the resolution adopted by the organising committee of the World Economic Conference the Governments concerned had agreed that they would not adopt any new initiatives in the matter of tariffs before June 12, or during the proceedings of the Conference, except that in the case of any individual Government power be reserved to withdraw at any time after July 31, 1933, on giving one month's notice to that efTect. In the view of the British Government, which subscribed to that resolution, they remained fcound by its terms during any adjournment of the Conference unless its proceedings had becn finally eoncluded.
