DUCKS FROZEN IN ICE

FATAL QUEST FOR FOOD. The quest for food is dangerous to wild ducks- which brave the Arctie if they arel not quick enough to recognise the oncoming of a eold snap. A flock of ducks, frozen in the ice of a lagoon, was discovered lately ,by the polar expedition filming "Eskimo," near Teller, Alaska. Apparently, writes Col. W. S. Van Dyke, director of the expedition, the birds had penetrabed farther north than usual to fish in the lagoon, and were there when a sudden cold snap froze th'e water before they realised it. They were caught as in a trap.
