FIRE HOAX AT THEATRE
BACK STAGE PEOPLE ALARMED. A malicious fire alarm caused consternation behind the scenes during the showing of a film at the Plaza Cinema, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, one night recently. Musieians and dancers rushed out of their rooms in dressing-gowns when five fire-engines, with bells clanging, stopped outside the stage door of the erowded kineina and firemen streaaned into the building. The firemen explainied that they had been told the stage was ablaze. They were^assured, however, that the stage was perfectly all right and, after a large crowdj had gathered in the street, they drove away. The audience was unaware of the commotion, and there was no interruption in the film. The fire call had been sent from an automatic telephone.
