Canherra, July 7. The Commonwealth surplus for the year totalled £3,500,000. The actual revenue was £73.5i2,066 and the expenditure £69,967, OQQ. The Telegraph says it may be. esti- • mated that if there had bee-p no" taxa- : tion remission^ qnd the collection pf income tax had been pushed to the • limit, the surplus would have heen nearly £10,000,000.
